    Q5X Series

    The Q5X background-suppression laser is a powerful, problem-solving sensor in a cost-effective industry-standard rectangular housing. The best-in-class laser sensor is available with ranges from 50 mm to 10 m, is easy to use, and provides reliable detection of the most challenging targets.

    • High excess gain for reliable detection of the darkest objects (<0.1% reflective black targets)
    • Reliable detection of black targets against a black background, black targets against a shiny metal background, clear and reflective objects, multicolor packaging, and targets of all colors
    • Jam detection model alerts operators to production line jams reducing or preventing downtime
    • Dual teach mode measures both distance plus light intensity for the most challenging applications
    • 270-degree rotatable M12 QD to meet a variety of mounting constraints
    • Programmable via on-board user interface, remote teach, IO-Link, or optional remote sensor display
    • Remote Sensor Display (RSD) enables remote programming and monitoring

      Preventing Jams in Airport Baggage Retrieval Systems

      MSP International Airport installed Banner Q5X sensors with Jam Detection in its passenger-facing baggage carousel in Terminal 1. This laser technology with high excess gain helps to prevent jams in the retreival system by detecting the presence of luggage within a specific distance of the top of the carousel, which then automatically stops the infeed conveyor until the area is clear again.
